Your Guide To A Successful Move

Moving homes involves the intricate task of packing and transporting a multitude of items, each varying in value, shape, and size, from one place to another. Amidst the pressures of selling, buying, and renting properties, it’s common for individuals to overlook careful consideration of what items to include or exclude from their new residence. Additionally, there are legal matters to attend to in order to ensure a smooth transition on completion day. Ensuring access to your new home is available by 1 pm. This is why the British Association of Removers has crafted this leaflet, offering guidance to facilitate a seamless and efficient relocation.

A Hassle Free Move

To ensure a hassle-free move by 1pm on completion day. It’s imperative to complete the following tasks within the two weeks leading up to it:

  • Review your property information and fixtures and fittings form to determine what to take with you and what to leave.
  • If you’re obtaining a mortgage, ensure your legal representative withdraws the funds 24 to 48 hours before completion. Note: Mortgage funds typically need to be requested five days prior to completion.
  • Understand the amount to be transferred and the timing for transferring the final funds to your legal representative.
  • Confirm the necessary steps with your legal representative. Including ordering final redemption figures for existing mortgages, conducting an official property title search, and preparing a legal statement.
  • Verify the completion of paperwork by your legal representative the day before completion.
  • Prepare to vacate your property by 1 pm on completion day and coordinate this with your chosen removal company.

If you’re moving to a new property, ensure the current owners have completed the aforementioned tasks and confirm in writing, if possible, that they will vacate the property by 1pm.
