Some people like to do their own packing before the big removals day. If you’re this way inclined then you need to be aware of a number of factors before you commit to taking on the work.
As we move into the height of summer there might heatwave coming and it could be quite difficult if you’ve schedule your removals in the summer school holidays. Of course, not every day is a belter, but with the increasing global temperature there’s a chance your day could be the one that literally burns you out. In this article we look at some of those dangers.
Take plenty of breaks
There’s always the temptation to push on through when you’re working hard, but sometimes in the heat this can lead to quick exhaustion. Make sure that you don’t burn up all your energy reserves in one bold session by taking lots of frequent and small breaks. This way you’ll be able to go a lot further in the long run, rather than simply burning out early in the day.
Drink lots of water
It might sound obvious, but if you’re lifting heavy objects and getting involved with some hard removals work then you could get dehydrated fast. Whilst drinks like cups of coffee, sugary soft drinks and tea are partially refreshing, they are not as effective at keeping you energised as plain water. Whether you enjoy it from the tap, prefer a bottle, or like a glass with ice, this is the best way to stay cool in the heat.
Try to avoid working in direct sunshine
Although you may have to take numerous trips outside, it might be advisable to save all the outside work to the end of the day when the sun has left the sky. Working in the direct heat will not only tire you out faster but there’s a chance you could get sunburned too. If you absolutely have to work out in the direct light then we would recommend you put on the sunscreen to protect you from damaging your skin.
Start Early
If you want to avoid the hottest part of the day, which is not actually midday but rather the sweet spot around 2 to 3 in the afternoon, it may be advisable to start early and finish after lunchtime if possible. This way you won’t have to work in the hugely energy draining afternoon, which could kill all your motivation.
