Removing a grand piano from a house is in one sense no different from moving any other kind of furniture, whether you live in Norwich or the Netherlands, the basic rules are the same.
Plan ahead
Use the right kind of packaging
Buy insurance, or check to see if it’s covered on your household insurance
Be really, really careful! It’s not just the piano that can break, your back is irreplaceable
If in any doubt at all, call us first before you even lift a finger…our experienced team is here to help!
Out of all the furniture we move, pianos can be the trickiest. Apart from the value (both financial and sentimental) they are awkward to get up and down stairs, because of their shape, and the weight isn’t distributed evenly either which means what looks like the “;heavy end” can in fact be the light end!
The BBC has also compiled a really useful guide to packing your furniture and other household items too. From making sure you have the right materials to pack with to starting early on and remembering not to over pack the boxes (because you won’t be able to lift them), this list is really helpful.
Although, you could save yourself the effort and use our packing service of course…why not give it a whirl?
